As of right now, the pcap filters determine whether to process interface traffic based on MAC addresses. This is to avoid duplicate processing of a packet as it is coming in from one interface and written back out on another.
It would be better to filter based on which direction through the interface the packet is travelling (if this is possible) perhaps by doing something with iptables.
